Fawn Mckay
Fawn McKay's Brodie was born Ogden Utah on September 15 1915. Born into the Mormon Church's very first family, Fawn McKay directed her ingenious talent for writing and her impressive expertise in researching to produce the brilliant psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945. The book was titled The Only Man Knows My History. The title was inspired by the funeral sermons of Joseph Smith, the founding father of The Church of Latter-Day Saints. He shocked his audience by proclaiming: "You don't even know my name. There is no way to know the inside of my mind." My history is not known to anyone. It's impossible for me to reveal it. Fawn wrote the 29-year-old Fawn. Since that moment more than three writers have taken up the challenge. Many have abused him some even deified him. While a couple have even tried their hand at clinical diagnosis it is not that documents are lacking but rather they're wildly contradictory. The task is to distinguish accounts from third-hand plagiarism and then to integrate Mormons' stories with those of non-Mormons into a coherent history. This is a fascinating learning experience.
